There is a professionally
installed hands-free kit available for most major brand phones - but before
you commit yourself to a new model -CHECK WITH US FIRST! Many people find to
their dismay that after spending money on a new
phone, there is no suitable hands-free solution for it. UK phone networks frequently provide upgraded phones to their customers that are either incompatible with an existing car-kit, or will not support a hands-free kit at all! What hands-free kit
should you go for? If you prefer a kit to include a charging cradle, your choice is often limited anyway, as when the phone manufacturer makes the only kit available for a particular phone model (especially for unusually shaped ones). There are exceptions however, like when original equipment manufacture (OEM) cradles are not available, and a third party non-original manufacturer produces a compatible cradle. If your phone is Bluetooth enabled, and you are happy do without a cradle that charges the phone and connects it to an antenna, your choices are much wider, because there is no physical connection needed between phone and the installed kit. The rule about keeping like brands together is particularly important with Bluetooth hands-free kits. Although meant to be universal, Bluetooth performance can vary when devices are used with different brands. If you are likely to use a variety of different brand phones or may change brands in the future, our advice is to go for a "Generic" Bluetooth kit, which provides virtually universal compatibility. The Parrot Bluetooth is an example, but remember, these are Bluetooth only kits - they do not provide an antenna connection or a charging cradle.
